Shopping for your wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of the planning journey. To keep things stress-free, here are some key dates to keep in mind while you search for your dream look:

9–12 months before: Start shopping and order your gown. Many designers take 6–9 months to produce and ship a dress, plus you’ll need time for alterations.

6–8 months before: Begin shopping for your veil, jewelry, and shoes so you’ll have them for fittings. This is also a great time to research tailors for alterations.

2–3 months before: Schedule your first fitting. This allows enough time for multiple rounds of adjustments.

4–6 weeks before: Have your second fitting. Bring undergarments, shoes, and accessories for the most accurate fit.

2–3 weeks before: Final fitting. This is when everything should come together perfectly — gown, veil, shoes, and accessories.

1 week before: Pick up your gown and keep it safe in a garment bag. If it needs to be steamed, try to do it a few days in advance to reduce stress on the wedding day.

Have you ever noticed that some venues require you to choose from a preferred vendor list? What does that mean, and why does it matter?

A preferred vendor list is a group of trusted professionals the venue has worked with before and confidently recommends. These vendors know the space, understand how things flow, and have proven they can deliver a great experience.

Some venues require couples to stick to this list to help ensure everything runs smoothly. It’s not about limiting your options. It’s about protecting your day (and theirs!).

P.S. If you’re a wedding vendor hoping to become a preferred vendor for venues in Snohomish County, the Guild can be a great place to introduce yourself and make some of those connections.
